Episode 5 – Pita Bread

Pita bread is a wonderful, simple recipe. Very few ingredients with a very tasty result. Pita is made in two forms: the first is when the water in the dough causes it to form a pocket in the center that keeps it open, the next is a non pocket pita. Whatever the outcome the flavor is the same.

The known history of Pita goes back close to fourteen thousand years in the Jordan area, made from wild grains that the Natufian people harvested. People are not sure when the recipe changed to form the pocket in the center. Either way we are fortunate that the creators of the pita had the desire and knowledge to create this wonderful delight.

I hope you have just as much fun as I have had creating the from scratch. Have a fabulous day!
